At every turn, a wild natural beauty greets the traveller who chooses to wander the outskirts of the ancient village of Mondoñedo. The river scenery that brightens the valley gives rise to beautiful such sights as the
Salto do Coro, a waterfall hidden in the hills of As Bouzas.
On the outskirts of Mondoñedo, the river Tronceda jumps and skips among the rocks, forming beautiful waterfalls. At A Fervenza we find an area that has been adapted for the public; many of the locals find it a perfect place to spend a summer day at the natural swimming holes formed by the river.
The climb to the Salto do Coro waterfall is well worth the effort. The trail, formerly used by quarry workers, runs through an area threaded by streams and brooks, so the vegetation is verdant and flourishes all year round. After the walk comes the reward: a view of the clear waters tumbling to the river Valdeliñares.
