All kinds of art, from the historical avant-garde to the latest twenty-first century trends, find a home in this contemporary art museum located in the centre of Vitoria, on the edge of the medieval quarter. The permanent collection includes works by Picasso, Miro, Tapies, Lucio Muñoz and Genoves, as well as representatives of Basque art and the international scene. The centre pays great attention to formats such as film, video and photography, and its dynamism is clearly shown by the number and range of contemporary art-related activities on offer. The complex includes the entrance, a large white concrete cubic building with an overhang, and several other geometric spaces. It is organised around and beneath a large trapezoid 'square' and a large proportion of the facilities are, like a wine cellar, below ground.
