Miscellaneous

Metric system
Spain uses the metric system used throughout the European Union. All units of weights, measures and distances are expressed in the seven basic metric units (metre, kilogramme, second, litre, tonne ...).

Electricity
The standard electricity supply in Spain is 220 volts, 50 hertz alternating current. All plugs comply with European legislation and use the round pin system. Most hotels offer special adaptors for plugs. Ensure that electrical appliances to be used (computers, mobile phone chargers, shavers etc.) are compatible with this voltage.
Complaints
In Spain, the customer is entitled to make complaints if appropriate. Current legislation requires the various establishments to provide official "hojas de reclamación" (complaints forms) for this purpose. Once completed, the complaints must be filed at the establishment itself, at the tourist information offices or at the local, regional or national government offices. If the claim is upheld, the Administration will impose a sanction on the establishment.
