Time in mainland Spain and the Balearic Islands is GMT plus one hour in winter and two hours during the summer. The Canary Islands are one hour behind the rest of Spain: GMT in winter and GMT plus one hour during the summer.
Mealtimes
These vary according to region and season: in summer meals tend to be later. In general, lunch in Spain is served between 2.00 and 3.30pm, and dinner between 9.00 and 10.30pm. In tourist areas these times are often brought forward in line with other European mealtimes.
Business hours
Usual business opening hours are Monday through Saturday from 10.00am to 2.00pm and from 5.00 to 8.00pm. Large shopping malls and department stores don't close at lunch time and are usually open until 10 o'clock at night. Some department stores and hypermarkets also open on Sundays. In coastal regions, in high season, establishments usually open until 0 o'clock at night. In big cities some pharmacies are open around the clock. Information about all-night pharmacy services is available at the shops and in the press..
