What do the Bardem family, Santiago Segura and Joaquin Sabina have in common, other than that they are all successful in the world of entertainment? Apart from that, they all run - or at least lend their image to - delicious businesses. These are just some of the names from the world of Spanish culture who have opened their own restaurants, in the same way Bruce Willis and Sylvester Stallone, Arnold Schwarzenegger and Jennifer Lopez did in Hollywood.
On this side of the pond, in Spain, the coupling of a famous name with a fashionable restaurant is a guarantee of success: for years, the Bardem family have been serving to a full house at Bardemcilla in Madrid. The Latino-Japanese style of Santiago Segura's Minabo in Madrid is more recent, but also very popular. In Malaga, Antonio Banderas made his mark in the mid-Nineties at La Posada de Antonio, which serves Andalusian dishes with a hint of stardust. He no longer runs the business, but his name continues to attract tourists. Joaquin Sabina satisfies the musical side of the equation and adds a touch of spice with his patronage of the different Mordida restaurants and their Mexican dishes. So, if the tasty food on the menu isn't enough to satisfy you, the photos, newspaper clippings and names of such illustrious hosts should soothe your appetite for myth. And, who knows, maybe one day the owner will drop by.
