The Andalusian horse is an imposing animal of extraordinary beauty whose elegance, flexibility, balance and harmony form the base of the show How the Andalusian Horses Dance. The Royal Equestrian School Foundation in Jerez de la Frontera was founded in 1973 by Alvaro Domecq, after he received the "Caballo de Oro" - the highest national equestrian award - at the hands of the then Prince Juan Carlos. The Foundation is the most important institution for breeding and training Andalusian thoroughbreds and responsible for ensuring the purity of the show.

In this famous spectacle, the horses, ridden by costumed jockeys, dance to 18th century Spanish music. There are also synchronised displays in harness and with carriages where the horses perform stunning choreography in unison. To round off the experience, the Royal Equestrian School organises a thematic tour that includes a visit to the stables and harness room, the halls of the 19th century Palace where the Foundation is located and to the Harness Museum with its impressive collection of carriages. For those visitors who themselves are already versed in the equestrian arts, courses are offered in dressage, horse riding and breeding.
