Closed to everyone but us. Brimming with magic and heavy with the weight of history. During this two-hour private visit to the Alhambra, the privileged visitor will feel like a king. You will understand why Boabdil coud find no words but "a woman's tears" to express the deep emotions provoked by the beauty of the Alhambra, a palace as austere on the outside as it is luxurious on the inside. As dusk casts its enchantment and the tumult of the tourists dies away in the streets of the Albayzin, the trustees of the Alhambra and the Generalife offer private viewings of these Nasrid Palaces. In the calm and silence of the twilight, the visit encompasses the Mexuar Courtyard, the Golden Room and Arrayanes Courtyards and the Courtyard of the Lions, the Throne Room, the Abencerrajes Room and the Two Sisters Room. Al-Hamra in Arabic means "the red one", and at this time of day, the reddish tones that give the palace its name are clearly visible. The visitor can feel the full evocative force that fascinated Washington Irving, inspired the painters Fortuny and Rusiñol, and amazed Bill Clinton who said that this was the most beautiful sunset he had ever seen.
