In high season, private vehicle access from Torla is limited. A bus service runs from the Torla carpark and takes visitors to la Pradera, the setting off point for the various trails which explore the Arazas river valley.
Best time to visit
Late spring and early autumn are the best seasons, followed by summer, because the weather changes suddenly and there tend to be storms in the afternoon. In early spring, the trees are still bare of leaves and there is usually snow and the danger of avalanches.
Tips
Wear comfortable footwear. Although there are springs, it is advisable to take bottled water. Also take provisions, headgear, warm clothes and waterproofs. Remember that this is a mountain area with peaks rising to over 3.000 metres and the temperature and weather conditions may change suddenly.
It's best to set out first thing in the morning, returning in the early afternoon as there is a tendency for storms to build later in the day.
