Many mammals make their homes in the Doñana park, including deer, wild boar and fallow deer, and hundreds of birds find shelter here, especially spoonbills and herons, as well as kites, kestrels and imperial eagles.
Although the pink flamingo may be the most striking of the thousands of birds of over 300 species that congregate in the 'sanctuary' of Doñana, it is the Iberian lynx that is symbol of the National Park. The beauty of its dappled skin and its legendary sharp eyesight make this is beloved animal. In Doñana it finds an ideal habitat of mountain and marsh where it feeds on rabbits and birds.
