The Aigüestortes i Estany de Sant Maurici national park presents great biodiversity. The vegetation consists mainly of pine forests of black pine and spruce and abundant grasslands. There are also scattered forests of birch and beech. Fungi, algae, mosses and lichens further enrich the area.
The meadows offer numerous species of alpine flora, including gentians, the Pyrenean ranunculus and flowering moss. Bogland plants are also very important, including water-crowfoot and different species of orchids.
