This unique enclave is encircled by the Bay of Biscay and the Pyrenees and characterised by natural beauty as well as by the historical and cultural heritage to be found here.
In the extreme north of the Iberian peninsula, in the shelter of the Bay of Biscay, all possible shades of green and blue are brought together along the 252 kilometres of la Costa Vasca - the Basque coast. The area offers a host of natural delights including forested mountains leading to rocky cliffs, sandy beaches, spectacular rivers, wetlands of great ecological value and fishing villages where time seems to stand still.
The beaches of La Concha, Laga and Zarauz, towns such as Guetaria, Hondarribia, Bermeo, Mundaka and Plentzia and the cities of San Sebastian and Bilbao are some of the essential stops on a tour of the Basque coast through the provinces of Guipuzcoa and Vizcaya.
