A hundred kilometres of beaches make up the coast of Valencia where two distinct landscape types are clearly visible: the coast and the mountains. Backed by a perpetual green mosaic, the coast is flat and straight with gentle shallow waters. Alongside the urban development there are still tranquil oases in which to relax and enjoy the sun and the beach .
In the mountains, scored by breathtaking river canyons, pine forests hide caves and prehistoric shelters and monasteries. Closer to hand are the more familiar urban beaches of La Malvarrosa and Canet d'en Berenger - backed by a belt of dunes - wetlands such as las marismas del Puig, above all, the Albufera of Valencia, the lively tourist ports of Sagunto, Cullera and Gandia and the refurbished city of Valencia, icon of modernity where the City of Arts and Sciences provides a perfect showcase for cultural and leisure activities.
