On the streets of the old town of Santiago you'll find all sorts of souvenirs, from miniature reproductions of the Cathedral's botafumeiro, reproductions of the Cross of St. James and the typical scallop shell of the Jacobean pilgrims, to jewellery in silver and jet - a stone that is considered magic in Galicia - pottery, bagpipes and amulets. There is a market in the Rua Nova, where bargains are to be found every day. The produce market is the perfect place to buy the best local produce while enjoying the lively atmosphere. Away from the centre, international fashion labels can be found.
