Architectural catalogue of the nineteenth and twentieth centuries and symbol of metropolitan Madrid, the Gran Via is a major axis around which can be found all the bustle of the city and the full range of leisure activities available. In addition to its theatres, with their huge posters of the latest musical productions, the Madrid 'Broadway' is home to some of the most emblematic buildings of the great expansion of the city in these last two centuries: the Metropolis building, the Grassy building, the Circulo de la Union and the Fine Arts centre. Caught in the middle of all these buildings that reach for the sky, the Oratorio del Caballero de Gracia contributes a neo-classical touch in the first section of the Gran Via, between Alcala and the Red de San Luis.
