From jazz to disco music, from old taverns and inns to sophisticated clubs, both open air and indoor, Barcelona nightlife is extraordinary. As in the rest of Spain, the evening begins late and doesn't end until the next day. In Las Ramblas and the Gothic Quarter locals and tourists crowd the countless terraces, bars, restaurants and pubs. The Eixample district is home to some classier establishments scattered along its wide streets. In the Maremagnum, the bug shopping mall at the city port, the daylight family life gives way to a frenetic nightlife, with techno clubs, salsa bars and Irish pubs. In the modern district around the Puerto Olimpico, the terraces and bars are some of the most popular places to spend a summer evening in the city. You can also enjoy an al fresco drink on one of the Tibidabo terraces, or you may prefer to explore the streets of Raval and venture into one of the bohemian bars in what used to be the picaresque heart of the city.
