The old Jewish quarter of Seville, which lies in the shadow of the Cathedral and the Royal Palaces, is a showcase of the traditional Seville. A maze of narrow, whitewashed streets winds around peaceful squares and flowered courtyards where you breathe an atmosphere that seems unchanged by the passage of time. The area is full of beautiful nooks and it basks in an atmosphere of legend. Against this backdrop stands the Hospital de los Venerables Sacerdotes (hospital of the venerable priests), which has one of the most beautiful courtyards in Seville, and here, too, are the jardines de Murillo (the Murillo gardens), one of the spaces of greatest artistic and ecological importance in Seville.
