Why visit
  • Take a birds' eye view of the city from the bell tower of the Giralda, Seville's most symbolic monument, especially the view over the river Guadalquivir.
  • Visit the Royal Palaces in spring and summer, when they open their doors at night, and enjoy the gardens and the living quarters of Pedro I, "Pedro the Cruel".
  • Contemplate the paintings of Zurbaran and Murillo in the Museum of Fine Arts, the second biggest art gallery in Spanish, which gathers together the great masters of the XVII.
  • Stroll along the Plaza de España, Seville's early twentieth century centre, built for the 1929 Iberoamerican Exhibition.
  • Wander along the pedestrian street Sierpes, where some of the most traditional shops in the city are to be found.
  • Sip coffee in the Campana, the most classical and elegant cafe in Seville.
  • Pay a midday visit to the legendary bars of classical Seville along Garcia Vinuesa; and, of course, sample the wine from Cadiz and Iberian sausages from the mountains of Huelva.
  • Enjoy a night in the fashionable pubs of the Alameda de Hercules, one of the epicentres of Seville nightlife.
  • Take a cruise along the Guadalquivir, setting off from the dock of the Torre del Oro to travel the green waters of Andalusia's biggest river.
  • Spend a Sunday morning in the Plaza de la Alfalfa market.
  • Buy sweets from the convents of Santa Clara, Santa Paula and Santa Ines; the store known as El Torno, in the Plaza del Cabildo, sells cakes from all the convents.
  • Spend a day at the Magic Island theme park.
  • Take a trip in a horse-drawn carriage through Seville's most beautiful streets, squares and avenues.
