By plane
Toledo is less than an hour from Madrid's Barajas International Airport; take the M-40 ring road towards the A-42.

By road
A mere 71 kilometres separates Toledo from Madrid via the toll motorway AP-41 or A-42 motorway. From Andalucia, the A-4 (Autovia del Sur); from Talavera de la Reina, Caceres and Portugal, the A-5 (Autovia del Suroeste); from Cuenca, Albacete and Levante, the N-400 ( Madrid-Valencia road via Ocaña), from Ciudad Real on the CM-42 (Autovia de los Viñedos) and from Avila, Salamanca and Valladolid on the N-403 (Toledo-Avila).

By bus
The Alsa-Continental bus company run buses to Toledo every half hour from Madrid's Plaza Eliptica bus station (tel +34 902 42 22 42. www.alsa.es). The journey takes about 50 minutes.

By train
Toledo is connected to Madrid by the AVE high speed train (Tel. +34 902 24 02 02. www.renfe.es). From Atocha station in Madrid it takes only 25 minutes to reach Toledo (P º de la Rosa, s/n. Tel +34 925 22 30 99).
